A jawan of CRPF’s CoBRA battalion was injured when an IED planted by members of the CPI (Maoist) exploded in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district, a police officer said on Monday (April 06, 2026).
The incident took place when a joint anti-Maoist operation was underway in Saranda forest under Chotanagra police station limits, Superintendent of Police (SP) Amit Renu told PTI.
During the operation, the SP said an IED planted by the CPI (Maoists) exploded injuring CoBRA battalion jawan Manoj Kumar.
The jawan sustained minor injuries in the incident, the SP said, adding that his condition is stable.
A massive combing operation was underway to flush out the remaining Maoist squad led by senior leader Misir Besra, who carries a ₹1 million bounty on his head.
Security personnel were conducting an operation to liberate the district.
