
Vidyarthi Bhavan, an iconic restaurant in Bengaluru, is celebrated for its traditional South Indian cuisine. Located in the busy lanes of Gandhi Bazaar, it is known for preserving tradition through food. With Benne Dose and South Indian Filter Coffee being one of its specialties, this hotspot is a favorite among many.
Tollywood superstar Venkatesh Daggubati and Prestige Group Joint Managing Director Rezwan Razack were recently spotted at a restaurant enjoying crispy masala dosa with chutney, sampling vada, idli, sambar and filter coffee.

Speaking to Humans of Bombay, Arun Kumar Adiga, who currently runs the establishment, described how the restaurant’s Unique Selling Proposition (USP) produces daily performance.
Arun Kumar Adiga can be heard saying, Our main USP is the masala dose, apart from that we are known for South Indian breakfasts, vegetarian food. On a typical weekday, we produce around 1500 to 1800 batches. On an average we go up to 3,000 batches on a weekend and what we used to prepare is just a batch of Benne masala, the Bengaluru way of preparing batches is quite thick, crunchy, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.”

He further noted that waiters at the restaurant are trained to carry a stack of 16 shots per shot.

Foundation of Vidyarthi Bhavan
This legendary restaurant was established in 1943 by brothers from Saligrama in Dakshina Kannada, including Venkataramana Ural. Ramakrishna Adiga, Arun Kumar Adiga’s father, took ownership of the business in the 1970s, aiming to serve authentic Kannada cuisine with a strong focus on traditional dosas.
According to a report in The Hindu, the restaurant is known for several other dishes apart from its famous butter dosa, including saag, puri paired with saag, idli with sambar, uppittu, chow chow bath and rave vade.
