
Bhuvneshwar Kumar added his name to the record books during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s match against Chennai Super Kings, becoming only the second bowler and the first fast bowler to reach 200 wickets in Indian Premier League history. He got to the mark by dismissing Ayush Mhatre during an IPL 2026 game on Sunday.Bhuvneshwar, who is the second highest wicket-taker in the league, has now joined Yuzvendra Chahal in the 200-wicket club. He now has 202 wickets in 192 matches at an average of 27.25. Chahal remains ahead with 224 wickets in 176 matches at an average of 22.68. Sunil Narine is third on the list with 193 wickets in 191 matches.The milestone came when Bhuvneshwar dismissed Mhatre during the RCB vs CSK match. He bowled a long delivery off the off-stump that rose and pressed the batter on the pull-off. Mhatre mistimed the ball and it flew to mid-off where Rajat Patidar was catching.In the same match, RCB posted a total of 250 for 3 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The innings started with contributions from Virat Kohli who scored 28 off 18 balls and Phil Salt who made 46 off 30 balls.Devdutt Padikkal (50 off 29 balls), skipper Patidar (48 off 19 balls) and Tim David, who made 70 off 25 balls, then pushed the score forward.RCB picked up the pace through the middle and last overs. Padikkal and Patidar added runs before Patidar and David put together an unbroken partnership of 99 runs in 35 balls. David’s knock at the end, including eight sixes, helped RCB reach 250 in 20 overs. The team hit a total of 19 sixes in the innings.Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the match by 43 runs.
