
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Rajasthan, Bihar and Jharkhand, predicting heavy rains on April 6. According to the latest weather report, two western disturbances in quick succession are likely to hit northwest India during the week, with peak activity expected tomorrow and the day after. Apart from this, isolated heavy rainfall is likely in the Kashmir Valley on April 7.
Apart from Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and parts of Maharashtra, the rest of India is on IMD yellow alert. The Meteorological Office has predicted a wet spell with thunder and lightning for central, eastern and peninsular India till April 9. According to the Meteorological Department, daytime temperatures are likely to remain below normal to near normal in most parts of the country this week.
The IMD predicts the change in daily temperatures:
“A rise in maximum temperatures of 2-4°C likely over NW India on 5-6 April; a gradual decrease of 2-4°C on 7-8 April and a gradual increase of 2-4°C during 9-11 April…. A decrease in maximum temperatures of 3-5°C likely over East India by 1 2-3 April 2009 and a gradual increase by the 12th in its latest weather bulletin.
Isolated hail is likely in the following areas:
- In West Madhya Pradesh on 8 April
- In sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on 7th and 8th April
- In Bihar on 6th and 8th April
- In Jharkhand till April 8

Delhi weather forecast
Residents of Delhi can expect ‘partly cloudy’ conditions today, with maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be in the range of 33°C to 35°C and 18°C to 20°C. The minimum temperature will be close to normal (-1.5°C to 1.5°C) and the maximum temperature will be below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) over Delhi, the IMD said.
