The 119th birth anniversary of former Deputy Prime Minister and Green Revolution pioneer Babu Jagjivan Ram was celebrated in Yadgir and Raichur districts on Sunday.
MLA Channareddy Patil Tunnur praised the great leader of the country and said his service to the nation with public concern was unparalleled.
He was a great parliamentarian and social reformer who fought for social justice for downtrodden communities throughout his political career, he said.
Deputy Commissioner Harshal Bhoyar said the growth and changes of the country, especially in the agriculture sector, that he has brought about are remarkable.
Zilla Panchayat CEO Lavish Ordia, Superintendent of Police Pruthvik Shankar and others were present.
In a similar program in Raichur, the pioneer of modern India’s green revolution was highly felicitated for his contribution.
MP G Kumar Naik, Deputy Commissioner Nitish K, Zilla Panchayat CEO Eshwar Kumar Kandoo, Superintendent of Police Arunangshu Giri and others were present.
Babu Jagjivan Ram’s portrait was brought in a grand procession from the railway station to Pandit Siddaram Jambaladinni Rangamandir.
Floral tributes were paid to Babu Jagjivan Ram in both the districts.
