On Sunday, on the eve of the launch of the 100-day action plan for optimum utilization of water resources before the WUA members through a teleconference, Mr. Naidu emphasized the need for water security and called for joint efforts to achieve it through proper coordination between the water resources, forest, Panchayat Raj, agriculture and animal husbandry departments.
The action plan will be launched at Yadika in Tadipatri Assembly constituency on April 6 with the basic objective of conserving every drop of rainwater and raising the water table.
WUAs should do water budgeting by estimating the availability and demand in their areas and take necessary steps, advised Mr. Naidu.

The Chief Minister told the WUA to desilt the feeder canals, repair the dams and construct new structures whenever required. He wanted priority to be given to micro-irrigation and appreciated the ‘Jaladhara’ initiative in Annamayya district for its success in recharging ground water and filling local reservoirs.
Mr. Naidu noted that Rayalaseema, which everyone feared would become a desert, has emerged as a hub for horticulture and that the state government’s priorities included the completion of the Polavaram project and the completion of the pending works related to Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi, Galeru-Nagari Sujala Sravanthi and Telugu Ganga.
