The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed Penubal Harshavardhan as the Tirupati district president of its SC Morcha. Mr. Harshavardhan, who has served as SC Morcha State Secretary and Treasurer in the past, has been specifically appointed to head the unit at the district level in view of the revised landscape.
After the merger of Railway Kodur constituency, which was earlier in Annamayya district, into Tirupati district during the recent reorganization of the district, the demographics have changed drastically. The total number of reserved SC constituencies in the district still remained at three, with Gudur (SC) moving to the neighboring SPSR Nellore district.
“Harshavardhan, who hails from Railway Kodur, has been appointed SC Morcha president to strengthen the party from the ground up,” BJP district president Samanchi Srinivas said.
Mr. Harshavardhan thanked BJP State President PVN Madhav and SC Morcha State President Panathal Suresh for reposing faith in him and assured to continue the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ideology of Dr. BR Ambedkar.
