The Kalyana Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCI) has urged the government to expedite work on the PM MITRA Mega Textile Park, stressing the need for time-bound implementation of the project.
A KKCCI team led by President Sharanabasappa M. Pappa and Honorary Secretary Shivraj V. Inginshetty visited the project site on Saturday to review the progress of the ongoing development work.
Members of the Textile Park Horata Samiti were also part of the visit.
During the inspection, the team noted that works worth around ₹100 crore have been taken up by the state government across various ministries.
“Construction of a 1.5 km approach road has started while the Bhima causeway, planned for 280 metres, has been completed for 110 meters so far. The remaining work is expected to be completed by May or June this year,” Mr Pappa told the media after the inspection.
However, KKCCI representatives expressed concern over the delay in the implementation of the project. They pointed out that although the PM MITRA Park was inaugurated on March 28, 2023, the actual ground work started only recently, almost three years later.
While welcoming the start of work, the chamber described the delay as “unacceptable” and called on the government to ensure the project is now implemented expeditiously without further setbacks.
“We have been rigorously pursuing the project with both the central and state governments, including the Union Ministry of Textiles, highlighting its importance for regional development. The textile park has the potential to transform the industrial landscape of Kalyana Karnataka by creating jobs and boosting economic activity. We want it to be implemented as soon as possible,” Pappa said.
He urged the authorities to expedite all ongoing works, ensure simultaneous execution across departments and take necessary steps to make the park operational as soon as possible.
