The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM-K) held its 28th Annual Convocation on Saturday (April 4). As many as 1,432 students in eight programs received their degrees at this event.
TV Narendran, Managing Director and Managing Director, Tata Steel was the chief guest. The ceremony witnessed the following batches of full-time MBA awardees: PGP (488 students), PGP-BL (62), PGP Finance (53), PGP-LSM (54); two batches of Executive MBA programs – EPGP Main Campus (581) and EPGP Kochi Campus (157).
The 28th edition of IIM-K’s biggest gala event also witnessed the conferment of 37 Doctoral (PhD) degrees, of which 22 were awarded DPM (regular) and 15 were awarded DPM (practice track).
Mr. Narendran lauded the IIM-K community for the remarkable growth the institute has achieved in a relatively short span of time. Addressing the graduating cohort, he emphasized the importance of cultivating self-awareness in an increasingly uncertain and rapidly evolving world. He urged students to look at technology—especially artificial intelligence—not as a force to be resisted, but as a powerful tool to be embraced and harnessed. He emphasized the need to remain globally aware and urged the graduates to remain attuned to geopolitical developments to navigate effectively in a dynamic environment. He also emphasized the critical role of strong interpersonal and soft skills in leadership and urged students to remain sensitive to social inequalities and contribute significantly to building a more inclusive and empathetic society.
VP Nandakumar, Acting Chairman of the Board of Governors, IIM-K, said that in today’s fast-paced and uncertain global environment, management education plays a vital role in shaping leaders capable of navigating complexity, driving innovation and making responsible and ethical decisions.
In his report, IIM-K Director Debashis Chatterjee noted the institute’s stellar growth in global rankings. The top 100 rankings achieved by IIM-K’s programs like PGP, PGP-BL, EPGP Kochi and the overall performance in the Business and Management category put the institute alongside institutes like Carnegie Mellon, University of Tokyo, Princeton and others, Mr. Chatterjee added.
