A car carrying nine people veered off the road and fell into a water-filled well in Shivajinagar area of Dindori town in Nashik district, Maharashtra, resulting in the death of all occupants. The incident happened late on Friday (April 3, 2026) and the vehicle was recovered using a crane after an overnight operation.
The incident took place in Shivajinagar area of Dindori town. The vehicle fell directly into the well and its occupants had no way to escape.
The car driver lost control of the vehicle while returning from a social gathering organized by a private coaching class. Among the deceased were the family members and relatives of Sunil Dattu Dargode, a resident of Indore village. After the car left the road and entered a well, it sank below the water level. Local residents reached the spot after receiving information about the accident.
Among the dead were three children and two women. The victims were identified as Rakhi Sunil Dargode, Shraddha Anil Dargode, Shravani Anil Dargode, Sunil Dattu Dargode, Usha Anil Dargode and four of their relatives. All were residents of Indor village in Dindori taluka.
Rescue operations began when local residents and administrations got involved. The car was lifted from the well using a crane in the intervention, which continued into the night. By then all the passengers had died.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and local administrative officials reached the spot after being alerted. With the help of the residents, they fished out the bodies. It was a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga with registration number MH15-JS-1053. Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
The names of the deceased are: Sunil Dattatray Dargode (32), Reshma Sunil Dargode (27), Asha Anil Dargode (32), Gunavati Sunil Dargode (11), Shreyash Anil Dargode (11), Shravani Anil Dargode (11), Srushti Anil Dargode and Shraddhien (14), Anil Dargode (14) and Dargode (13). All were residents of Indore village in Dindori taluka.
