Hardik Pandya will not be a part of Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals match 8 of IPL 2026 on Saturday April 4 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Five-time champions Suryakumar Yadav will lead in his absence.
After losing the toss and being asked to bowl first, Suryakumar revealed that Hardik was unwell and therefore unavailable for MI’s first away match of the season.
“(Hardik) He is not well. He just got into his shoes today,” said Suryakumar.
Mumbai Indians also released a statement which read: “Hardik Pandya is unwell and will not take the field today. Suryakumar Yadav will lead the side.”
In Hardik Pandya’s absence, Mumbai Indians brought in Deepak Chahar. They also drafted all-rounder fast bowler Corbin Bosch in place of Trent Bouult, while Mitchell Santner replaced AM Ghazanfar in the spin department. Santner missed the previous match against Kolkata Knight Riders after not joining the team then.
