DC vs MI Live Score, IPL 2026: When Delhi Capitals take on Mumbai Indians at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday afternoon, it promises to be more than just another league match in IPL 2026. The opener of the double-header pits those desperate to improve their home record against a five-time champion team that has historically done well in New Delhi.
MI holds the edge
Mumbai Indians have dominated this competition in recent years. They have won five of seven meetings since 2022, including both meetings last season. At the Arun Jaitley Stadium too, MI have come through in three of their last four encounters against Delhi Capitals.
With a yellow rain alert issued, Axar Patel’s men – weather permitting – will have to produce something special to get their home leg off to a positive start.
DC looking for a home turn
Delhi Capitals struggled at home last season, managing just one win in five matches. Improving that record will be the main goal this time around.
A lot will depend on KL Rahul who suffered a disappointing golden duck against Lucknow Super Giants. However, he boasts an exceptional record against Mumbai Indians, averaging 69.7 over 20 innings, with six fifties and three hundreds. He is also just 24 runs short of completing 1000 IPL runs against MI.
That means MI’s pace duo pose a threat – Trent Boult has dismissed Rahul three times while Jasprit Bumrah has twice for him.
Bumrah vs DC, the key factor
Bumrah remains MI’s biggest weapon against Delhi, taking 30 wickets against them – the most by any bowler against a single franchise in IPL history. However, it has a relatively high economy rate of 9.4 at this location.
Medium order power for DC
Delhi’s batting depth looks solid with Axar Patel, Pathum Nissanka and Nitish Rana expected to play key roles. Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs add stability and firepower in the middle and lower order.
Rizvi had impressed in the previous game with an unbeaten 70 off 47 balls, showcasing his anti-spin ability – something that could prove crucial against MI’s slower bowlers. Stubbs, meanwhile, anchored the chase with a composed 39* and boasts an impressive record at the venue.
Bowling unit in the spotlight
The training trio of DC Axar, Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam will be key in checking MI’s strong batting line-up.
Lungi Ngidi has been in excellent form, picking up 23 wickets in T20s this year, with his variations of pace particularly effective. T Natarajan, returning from injury, also made an immediate impact with a three-wicket haul in the last match and will be key in the death overs.
MI firepower
Mumbai Indians go into the match with a lot of confidence after winning their opening game – their first such victory in 13 seasons.
Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma form a formidable opening pair and with short boundaries in Delhi, they could be even more dangerous. The middle order, featuring Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya and Sherfane Rutherford, provides immense depth and firepower.
Bowling worries for MI
Despite Shardul Thakur’s three wickets in the previous match, the MI bowling unit has areas to address. Conceding 78 runs in the powerplay against KKR is not a template they want to repeat.
Hardik Pandya’s lack of wickets in the overs since last season, coupled with a high economy rate, puts additional onus on Trent Boult for early breakthroughs. Team combinations and bowling roles will be key decisions for MI going forward.
The throw could be decisive
At a venue where the chasing teams have won five of six games this season, the toss could play a decisive role.
It remains to be seen if Delhi Capitals can start their home campaign strongly and turn the Arun Jaitley Stadium into a fortress or if Mumbai Indians will continue their dominance with another win.
