
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) on Friday reported a fire at its SHP platform under the Mumbai High Asset in which 10 employees suffered minor injuries, though the fire was quickly brought under control and operations were normalized.
In a post on X, the company said the fire broke out around 5:45 pm on the ONGC oilfield platform at Bombay High. Emergency measures were immediately activated to ensure that the situation was managed without escalation.
“The fire was reported at ~ 5:45 PM at ONGC’s SHP platform, Mumbai High Asset. The situation was immediately brought under control and the fire extinguished,” ONGC said.
The company confirmed that 10 employees were injured in the incident and are currently receiving medical treatment. It added that all the injured individuals are stable.
“10 employees suffered minor injuries and are receiving medical attention. All are stable,” the statement said.
ONGC further said that operations on the platform have been restored to normal after the incident.
“Traffic has been normalized. Further updates will follow,” he added.
The cause of the fire has not yet been released. Further details are awaited. (OR)
