Sneha T., a farmer’s daughter from Doddasanne village in Devanahalli taluk in Bengaluru rural district, became a university topper this year by winning four gold medals in M.Sc.Chemistry at Dr. Manmohan Singh Bengaluru City.
Sneha’s parents, Thimmarayappa and Bhagyamma, are farmers who grow flowers and vegetables, and Sneha commuted to the university from Devanahalli every day.
Currently working as an assistant professor at BGS Science Academy and Research Center in Chickballapur, Sneha said she wants to pursue a PhD in chemistry, engage in research and become a professor.
“I commuted from my hometown to the college every day, so I lost half a day in travel. I slept during the journey. But since the beginning of the year, I studied the daily lessons of that day. I spent weekends studying,” she said.
Sneha said she was curious about chemical reactions since childhood. “So I took up chemistry for MSc. Our university has an excellent laboratory and a good faculty, which helped me,” she said.
Abhishek Sriram of Seshadripuram Institute of Commerce & Management bagged three gold medals for securing the highest marks in BCom and became the university’s second topper. He intends to become a civil servant and has joined a coaching program for Civil Services Examination (CSE) in Bengaluru.
He said his parents never put any pressure on him and in fact never asked about his grades and grades, and that helped ease the pressure.
“I want to become a civil servant. That’s why I’m preparing for the civil service exam instead of a subsequent master’s degree. My dream has been to enter the civil service for many years,” he added.
Divyasree S. of Krupanidhi College of Commerce and Management, Chikka Bellandur won three gold medals for securing the highest marks in BBA and became the second topper of the university.
