Launching a scathing attack on the ruling DMK dispensation, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay accused the DMK of forming a “treasury alliance” (gallapetti kootani) and “illegitimate relations with others” and opposed him.
In the 2021 assembly elections, she made several promises including ₹100 gas cylinder subsidy, MSP of ₹4,000 for sugarcane farmers, one kg extra sugar and urid given to people through fair price shops and even assured to abolish NEET. The chief minister had made promises he could not fulfill and thereby deceived the people, Mr Vijay alleged, calling the government “useless and corrupt”. The DMK was preparing for another set of false promises, he added. He would not make false promises or deceive people, but would act according to people’s needs.
“As I said, the poll fight is only between TVK and DMK. Our main focus will be on education, rations, health, drinking water, facilities including improvement of facilities in government schools and transport,” he said, recalling the survey in which TVK assured six LPG cylinders free for women, one sovereign gold and a silk saree to other young women as marriage.
In Tiruchirappalli, a DMK minister was involved in cash job scams and the amount was a staggering ₹1,000 crore in the Municipal Administration Department alone. “Imagine the magnitude of the amount from other departments. What will we do to this DMK government for fraudulent employment, lack of security and facilities in the state? Throw it out?” he asked and the crowd responded with a resounding “yes”. He claimed that “Stalin Sir Tax – SST – was levied and was similar to GST”. “We will be 100 per cent fair in the administration and fulfill our promises. You can trust me. Give me a chance (to form the government),” appealed Mr Vijay. — PTI
