Dhurandhar fever has hit Mumbai Indians hard, especially Suryakumar Yadav in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), after India’s World T20 captain was seen recreating the viral dance moves of Akshay Khanna’s character Rehman Dakait from the film.
In a recent event, Suryakumar turned the spotlight on himself as he entered the stage by recreating signature moves in the song Fa9la, the video of which was shared by the franchise on social media. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film has become a sensation since the release of the film.
“Ye Dada ka style hai, full Dhurandhar mode,” Mumbai Indians captioned the video. The video also took social networks by storm. “All of India is running in Dhurandhar mode,” wrote one user. “Surya Dada in Dhurandhar atmosphere,” wrote another. “Lo chok fans edupulu quotes & answers. wc winning captain aura,” another user commented.
Suryakumar had earlier teased teammate Jasprit Bumrah with the viral Jassi dialogue from the film after Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2026 opening win over Kolkata Knight Riders. The incident occurred when MI owner Nita Ambani was presenting a badge to Bumrah for his spectacular bowling show against the three-time champions.
Suryakumar lightened the mood by saying, “Ghar ki yaad nahi aayi, Jassi? (Did you miss home, Jassi?)” The Indian T20I captain’s remark was greeted with laughter across the room, with Bumrah and Ambani both smiling at Suryakumar’s witty knock.
Earlier, Suryakumar-led India defended the T20 World Cup at home, defeating New Zealand in the final. It is also the first time any team has defended the T20 World Cup. The Men in Blue also became the first team to win the T20 World Cup on home soil.
What’s next for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026?
After decimating KKR by six wickets, Mumbai Indians next face Delhi Capitals on April 4 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. While Shardul Thakur played with the ball scalping three wickets, openers Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton entertained the crowd, scoring 78 and 81 respectively.
Why Suryakumar came as Impact Sub vs KKR?
Meanwhile, Suryakumar was used as an Impact Sub against KKR. Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene put a lid on the matter and ended the vice-captaincy speculation, saying that Suryakumar was used as an Impact Player as a precaution due to a slight groin problem.
“Sky came, he joined us. He had a bit of strain in his groin. He was doing in the field and all that. I knew I had another five days from this game to the next game. I just wanted to give him a little extra time. I have to take precautions. They are very valuable players for me who will walk all season. They are calculated decisions,” Jayawardene told reporters.
