In a stark warning, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said India will take unprecedented and decisive action against Pakistan if it tries to mischief along the border, taking advantage of the ongoing crisis in West Asia.
“Our neighbor can do any mischief in the current situation. If they do, India’s action will be unprecedented and decisive,” Singh said.
Meanwhile, reacting to the developing situation, he said the government is fully prepared to handle the crisis effectively and further assured the public that there is absolutely no shortage of petrol or diesel in the country.
“We are fully prepared to handle the ongoing crisis in the Middle East. Some people are spreading lies and creating confusion. There is absolutely no shortage of petrol or diesel,” Singh added.
“Our Navy is actively involved in evacuating people present in the region. PM Modi is protecting the interests of Indians there… The situation in West Asia is far from normal. There is a significant number of people from Kerala living there, but the government is keeping a close eye on the situation. We are fully prepared to deal with any eventuality.”
Singh was speaking at the Veer Sainik Samman event in Thiruvananthapuram.
“Operation Sindoor” has not yet been completed
Reiterating how Indian troops brought Pakistan to its knees in just 22 minutes during ‘Operation Sindoor’, he mentioned that it was India’s most significant counter-terrorism operation in the history of the Indian Army so far.
“After the Pahalgam terror incident, Indian troops brought Pakistan to its knees in just 22 minutes during ‘Operation Sindoor’. It was the biggest counter-terror operation in Indian military history so far,” Singh said.
He stated that “Operation Sindoor” was not yet complete.
He also said, “This operation has not yet been concluded. If any mishap occurs from beyond the border, not only will an appropriate response be provided, but unprecedented action will be taken.”
UPA government’s response to terrorism was to send ‘dense documents’ to perpetrators: Defense Minister
The defense minister further accused the Congress-led UPA government of not taking decisive action against acts of terror targeting India, claiming their response was limited to sending “dense documents” to the perpetrators rather than a forceful rebuttal.
“If I talk only about terrorism here, then do you remember what was the situation when the Congress-led UPA government was in power? Day after day there would be a terrorist incident in one or the other part of the country or there would be reports of bomb blasts in cities. What was the government’s response then? Dense files were handed over on which no action was taken.”
Referring to the 2016 surgical strike after the Uri attack and the more recent Sindoor operation, the defense minister said the government had dealt a massive blow to terrorism.
“Whether it was the surgical strike after the ‘Uri attack’, the air strike after ‘Pulwama’ or the ‘Operation Sindoor’ conducted after the recent ‘Pahalgam’ incident, we have dealt a powerful blow against terrorism,” Singh added.
