Security forces have arrested three militants belonging to various banned groups for their alleged involvement in extortion in two districts of Manipur, police said on Thursday (2 April 2026).
More than 2,300 pieces of ammunition were also recovered in separate operations from the three valley districts of the state.
Police on Wednesday (April 1, 2026) arrested an extortionist belonging to PREPAK from Thongkhong Laxmi Bazaar in Imphal West district.
One cadre of People’s Liberation Army was arrested from Khabeisoi area of Imphal East district on Tuesday.
Another active Kangleipak Communist Party (MFL) cadre was arrested from Kongpal Kongkham Leikai in Imphal East district on the same day.
Security forces recovered a cache of explosives and ammunition from Heirok Part-II, Khangabok Mahadeva Ching area of Thoubal district during an operation on Wednesday (April 1).
During the operation, two hand grenades, five magazines of various firearms and 2,388 cartridges of various calibers were seized.
