In a year when GST rate rationalization posed a huge challenge for the state to clear resources, Karnataka received ₹87,256 crore as part of SGST and part of SGST from IGST settlement in 2025–26, about 5% more than in 2024–25 when the settlement was ₹82,808.
Data shared by the Commercial Taxes Department shows that a total of ₹ 1.58 crore has been collected as GST in the state, an increase of 11.6% over the collection in 2024-25. The collection in Karnataka is the second highest in the country after Maharashtra, where the GST collection in 2025–26 was ₹3.61 crore.

The state government has estimated a revenue loss of around ₹10,000 crore due to GST rate rationalization in 2025–26 and estimates a revenue loss of around ₹15,000 crore in 2026–27.
