
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of an active Western Disturbance impact over northwest India on April 2. Daytime temperatures are likely to remain near normal to below normal in the region through April 6.
As the prevailing weather conditions will bring light to moderate rainfall over northwest India till April 5 with maximum activity in the next two days, the Met department said, “Fresh wet spell with scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall/snowfall with isolated thundershowers, lightning and gusty winds (speed reaching 40-50 kmph) with gusts likely over 60 kmph. Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh on 3rd and 4th and 7th of Uttarakhand during 3rd – 5th April.” The Meteorological Office has predicted isolated heavy rainfall over Jammu and Kashmir on April 3.
In its latest weather bulletin, the IMD said: “Wet period with thunderstorms and lightning likely over central parts of the country till April 6 with isolated hail activity likely till April 3, 2026.”
The Met Office has predicted “isolated to scattered light to moderate showers with isolated thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds” in the following areas:
Weather Forecast for Northeastern States
Meanwhile, northeastern states will witness “widespread light to moderate rainfall” accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds till April 5. It has predicted downpour in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on April 2 and lightning in Arunachal Pradesh on April 4 and 5.
Today’s weather in Delhi
The IMD has predicted “partly cloudy skies” with maximum and minimum temperatures in the normal range on April 2. The maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi are likely to be in the range of 35°C to 37°C and 18°C to 20°C, the IMD said. A yellow warning for heavy rain has been in effect since April 4. The average rainfall in Delhi on Wednesday was 5.2 mm.
