Amid problems with property registrations through e-khata, revenue collection from registrations increased by 13.31% even as the Stamps and Registration Department fell short of the target set for the financial year. The number of document registrations also decreased by 2.16% in the mentioned period.
While a target of ₹28,000 crore was set for 2025–26, the department managed to collect ₹25,493.79 crore, falling short of the target by ₹2,506 crore, or about 8.9%. The number of documents registered stood at 22.88 lakh, about 50,500 less than what was registered in 2024-25.
The department fell short of the target in 2024-25 as well, clearing ₹22,498 crore against a target of ₹26,000 crore.
While the slowdown in revenue collection was attributed to khata-related delays, the sector also saw a slowdown.
Now the pickup
Government officials said they are seeing an increase in registrations and that there may be many delays during the current financial year. Since November, registrations and revenue collections, which were affected earlier, have picked up, sources said.
