RANA, RATHI’S DPL CONTROVERSY
Their original feud took place during the DPL 2025 Eliminator between West Delhi Lions and South Delhi Superstarz at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. West Delhi Lions skipper Rana produced a sensational century as his team chased down a daunting target of 202 runs in just 17.1 overs to seal a seven-wicket win.
Tension flared during the chase when Rathi broke his run bowling to Rana, sparking a heated exchange between the two. Rana responded by backing off the next delivery and later added fuel to the drama by smashing Rathi for a six before mockingly mimicking his signature ‘laptop celebration’.
The fallout was serious. Rathi was fined 80 percent of his match fees for conduct contrary to the spirit of the game, while Rana was fined 50 percent for a gesture deemed obscene, offensive or offensive. Their friendly meeting in Lucknow stood out as a welcome end to the old rivalry.
Nitish Rana is all set to play for Delhi Capitals for the first time after being traded from Rajasthan Royals in exchange for Donovan Ferreira. Meanwhile, Digvesh Rathi has retained Lucknow Super Giants after an impressive debut season in IPL 2025, during which he picked up 14 wickets in 13 matches.
