SC panel urges universities to adhere to reservation norms

AP State Commission for Scheduled Castes member Ravada Seetharam on Thursday asked the managements of all universities to follow reservation rules in letter and spirit while taking up recruitment.

He visited the Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge and Technologies (RGUKT), Etcherla campus and inquired about the appointment of SC candidates to teaching and non-teaching posts under the reservation rule, which mandated allocation of 15% seats for SCs.

University Principal M. Giridhar said that the university had recently appointed SC candidates to the top posts also as part of the implementation of the government’s reservation policy. He assured that he will implement all the rules in the appointment of faculty members very soon.

Mr. Seetharam asked him to follow the rules in appointing persons even through outsourcing method.
