
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a stern warning to its centrally contracted players against posting any content on social media without prior approval in the wake of the Naseem Shah controversy.The board reminded players and their managers of their social media rules and said any post of a political nature would not be allowed. According to a Geo News report, the PCB has informed the players that political contributions will not be tolerated under any circumstances and any violation may result in a fine of at least PKR 10 million. According to the directive, the centrally contracted players must get approval from the PCB’s media department before posting on social media.

His post questioned the treatment of Maryam Nawaz at the Gaddafi Stadium.“Why is she treated like a queen at the Lords?” Naseem posted a post referring to Maryam, who is the daughter of former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.The PCB said its disciplinary committee found Naseem guilty of breaching the provisions of his central contract and breaching social media guidelines. He was issued a show-cause notice on 27 March after Maryam attended the opening match of the PSL as the chief guest.Although the post was deleted and it was claimed that his account was hacked, the board did not accept the explanation. It confirmed that Naseem had issued an unconditional apology.“Naseem’s response was reviewed by the committee and after evaluating everything, it was found that Naseem violated various clauses of his central contract and he was fined PKR 2 million.”The PCB also said that Naseem’s social media advisor has been removed and blacklisted from working with any player in its system.
