Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday alleged that the BJP-led Union government has an anti-people stance on the Almatti Dam issue and has not issued a notification on the final decision of the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal (II) for the past 13 years.
The Chief Minister kicked off his poll campaign by addressing a public meeting at various places in the Bagalkot Assembly constituency seeking the Congress candidate on Monday.

Mr. Siddaramaiah said that even when the BJP was in power in the state for four years, no compensation was given to the farmers.
However, the Congress government has started the work after fixing compensation of ₹40 crore for irrigated land and ₹30 crore for arid land and will pay the compensation amount within three years, he said.
The Chief Minister emphasized that it was because of late HY Meti. whose son Umesh Meti is now campaigning for the foundation stone of a medical college in Bagalkot to be laid and a super specialty hospital and trauma center to be set up in Bagalkot soon.
Mr. Siddaramaiah said the BJP did not live up to its word and not a single farm loan payment was waived. However, the Congress government helped the people who were affected by the pandemic through five guarantees.

The Chief Minister said that the BJP, which did not fulfill the aspirations of the people when it was in power, was involved in a disinformation campaign against the guarantee schemes.
The Chief Minister addressed election rallies at Sutagundar, Nayanegali, Rampura and other places. He was accompanied by ministers RB Thimmapur, Byrathi Suresh and Shivanand Patil and other Congress leaders.
DKS campaign
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and AICC general secretary in-charge of Karnataka Randeep Singh Surjewala will campaign in Davangere South, Karnataka’s second delimited constituency, on Tuesday and later go to Bagalkot. Mr. Shivakumar will campaign in Kerala on April 5 and 6.
