The Indiranagar police arrested a bike taxi driver for allegedly harassing a female passenger during a ride from BTM Layout to Indiranagar in Bengaluru on Thursday.
The accused has been identified as Mohammed Khaja, 21, a resident of DJ Halli.
Police said the 25-year-old complainant, a resident of Indiranagar, booked the ride around 8.10 pm on March 26. During the journey, the rider allegedly behaved inappropriately and repeatedly touched her despite her objections. The complaint further states that he even asked for permission to touch her inappropriately.
Sensing danger, the woman contacted a friend and informed her of the situation. Acting on a friend’s advice, she began videotaping the incident. Although the accused noticed that he was being recorded, he allegedly continued his misconduct.
“The complainant shared the video footage of the incident as evidence,” said a senior police officer.
Based on the complaint, the Indiranagar police registered a case of sexual harassment and arrested the accused.
