While Jadeja played with the ball, it was a contrast for Sanju Samson on his much-anticipated debut for Chennai Super Kings after his move from Rajasthan Royals.
Opening the innings against his former side, Samson managed just 6 off 7 balls. His early dismissal triggered a top-order collapse, with Chennai slipping to 19 for 2 in the first three overs.
It was also the first time since 2020 that Samson failed to score a fifty in an IPL opener, ending a string of strong starts to seasons.
