The Army Engineering Services executed the project approved by the Ministry of Defense in March 2021 at an estimated cost of ₹112.82 million. Construction of the project began in November 2021.
“The project was conceptualized and developed in close coordination with the Army Medical Services, whose domain expertise was integral in the planning, design finalization and validation of functional medical requirements. Their continuous involvement ensured that the facility is optimally configured to meet operational healthcare requirements, including modern treatment protocols and patient-centric infrastructure,” said Defense Spokesman Lt. Col. Athul Sreedharan.
An official statement said the project was delivered on time without any cost overruns, despite the COVID-19 pandemic and climatic conditions.
After the start of III. stage, the hospital’s capacity increased to 500 beds. The state-of-the-art facility incorporates environmentally sustainable features in line with modern green building practices. As one of the largest military hospitals in the Northeast region, it provides stronger medical support for operational formations in the Eastern Theater.
Lt Col Sreedharan said the project has been nominated for the CIDC Vishwakarma Awards 2026 in recognition of its strategic importance, superior construction quality and sustainable design features.
