AIADMK District Secretary Dusi K Mohan joined actor C. Joseph Vijay’s TVK in Tiruvannamalai.
The AIADMK leadership expelled Mr. Mohan soon after his candidature was announced by Mr. Vijay.
AIADMK sources said Mr. Tirupathi was the Tirupattur South Union Secretary for the AIADMK. He expressed interest in participating in rallies for the first time from Tirupattur. However, AIADMK allotted the seat to AMMK. Against this, AIADMK functionaries staged a protest in Tirupattur town on Tuesday. Subsequently, AMMK announced A. Gnanasekar as its candidate for the constituency.
Nallathambi (DMK) was elected from Tirupattur constituency in 2016 and 2021. He was renominated this time too.
Similarly in Tiruvannamalai, Mr. Mohan joined the TVK after being denied an AIADMK ticket to contest from Cheyyar. AIADMK has announced MN Subramaniyan as its candidate for Cheyyar.
Interestingly, Mr. Mohan contested from Cheyyar in 2021 but lost to DMK’s O. Jothi by a margin of 12,271 votes. This time too, Mr. Jothi got a ticket for the constituency.
