Two people were killed after a tractor carrying agricultural land overturned and fell into a pond near 4th Mile camp in Sindhanur taluk on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Virupangouda Ayyanagouda, 50, a resident of 4th Mile Camp, and Sukhamuniyappa Santeer, 30, of Virupapur village.
According to police, the victims were transporting manure to farmland when the tractor lost its balance and overturned midway, plunging into a nearby pond. When the vehicle fell with its cargo, the two men were trapped and drowned in the water.
Personnel from the rural police station visited the spot and shifted the bodies to the local government hospital for post-mortem.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
