
The CISF and Delhi Police on Sunday participated in a joint counter-terrorism mock exercise which was held at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in Delhi. This exercise was conducted to strengthen interagency coordination and assess security threat preparedness.
Several agencies participated in the mock exercise, including personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Delhi Police, National Security Guard (NSG), Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) and Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Air Rescue and Fire Department (ARFF) operated by Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) and Medical Services.
In a post on X, the CISF said, “A joint counter-terrorism exercise was conducted at the IGI Airport in Delhi to assess preparedness and enhance seamless inter-agency coordination against evolving security threats.
He added, “Personnel from CISF (QRT, BDDS, Dog Squad), Delhi Police, NSG, BCAS, DGCA, Delhi Fire Service, ARFF (DIAL) and Medical Services participated, demonstrating strong synergy and operational readiness. CISF remains committed to ensuring safe and secure air operations through constant vigilance, vigilance and coordinated action.”
CISF provides security at the newly inaugurated Noida International Airport
Established in 1969, the CISF is the central armed police force in India under the Ministry of Home Affairs. It was created for better protection and security of industrial enterprises owned by the central government. The CISF provides security police services to airports across India.
Besides, CISF guards sensitive government buildings, Parliament complex, Delhi Metro and provides airport security, plays a major role in disaster management. It also has a ‘Fire Wing’ which helps in fires in Industries where CISF is on guard.
On March 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Phase 1 of the Noida International Airport at the much-anticipated airport in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh. It will serve as the primary international airport for major cities like Noida, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Mathura and Agra and will also act as a catalyst for several pilgrimage and tourism destinations.
CISF has ensured security and smooth facilitation of passengers at the newly opened Noida International Airport. In a post on X, the agency said: “The CISF is firmly deployed, ensuring a robust security architecture, seamless passenger facilitation and vigilant protection of critical infrastructure – securing the skies with unwavering commitment.”
Nearly 5,000 policemen with forces including PAC, RAF, ATS, CISF and SPG have been deployed to guard the airport, ANI reported.
The airport was originally scheduled to open on December 1, 2024, but due to operational delays, its opening was pushed back to April 2025. It was pushed back a second time to September 1, 2025, and then a third time, before finally opening on March 28, 2026.
