“When defeat is evident, one loses control over one’s words,” the Samajwadi Party (SP) said on Saturday (March 28, 2026), hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for accusing the party of turning Noida into a “loot ATM”.
The opposition party said Noida has developed as an economic engine due to planned industrial clusters, affordable housing, metro connectivity and SME opportunities initiated by the previous SP government.
“He comes to our state as a guest; we will treat him as a guest and send him off with respect. The words of those who leave are not taken unkindly. When defeat is shown, one loses all respect for one’s position and control over one’s words. Respect for age and position is in our culture and always will be. A respectful farewell,” wrote SP president Akhilesh Yadav on X.
Mr. Modi, after inaugurating Phase 1 of the Noida International Airport at Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddha Nagar on Saturday, claimed, “Earlier the Samajwadi Party made Noida a looting ATM. But today, under the BJP government, the same Noida is becoming a powerful engine for the development of Uttar Pradesh.”
SP spokesperson Nasser Salim said, “We thank Modi Ji for reminding people of our agenda. Noida’s growth during the SP’s tenure was anchored in infrastructure, employment and inclusive urban planning, not rhetoric or slogans. For us, ATM stands for A—Access to infrastructure, T—Transparency in governance and M—Commitment to employment growth Samajwasdi remains. part of the society.”
