The Advocate General (AG) has informed the Kerala High Court that the state has decided to sanction the CBI for prosecution in connection with alleged irregularities in the importation of raw cashew nuts by the Kerala State Cashew Development Corporation (KSCDC).

The sanction will be given to the prosecution of INTUC state president and former KSCDC chairman R. Chandrasekharan and former CEO KA Ratheesh for alleged embezzlement of ₹600 crore in the import of raw cashews between 2006 and 2015.

Advocate General K. Jaju Babu informed Single Judge A. Badharudeen that he would, however, have to verify the sanction order to ensure its accuracy.

The court set a deadline of June 8, when the matter will be further considered.
