Over 1,000 contest for Jana Sena posts in Vizianagaram ahead of local polls

Jan Sena’s party, which has not had a proper party structure for the past decade, appears to have taken concrete steps to appoint trustees to all parliamentary seats and to appoint the right people for all its leading organizations.

The party has appointed ad hoc committees before, but their terms of office have long since expired. The party wants to have full committees for all constituencies and mandals in Vizianagaram district before the next municipal and local elections.

It has set up a panel ‘Nirmana Saradhula Samachar Sekaran Party Committee’ headed by Chairman Srikakulam Urban Development Authority and Liaison Committee member Korikana Ravikumar to receive applications from interested leaders. Former minister Padala Aruna and senior leader Gurana Ayyalu have also been given the task of receiving applications for assembly constituencies like Vizianagaram, Gajapathinagaram, Bobbili, Cheepurupalli, Rajam, Etcherla and Nellimarla.

The submission of applications, which started a few days ago, will be completed on July 3, 2026. Most of the applicants are young people between the ages of 25 and 45. More than 1,000 young people applied for various positions. Many of them are new to politics without any political background. Highly qualified young people from various professions have shown interest in entering politics. Those who registered as party members a few months ago can submit committee applications.

Speaking to the media here, Mr. Ravikumar said the selection of leaders for party posts will be done by the high command in a systematic manner after verifying their antecedents and work done in the last ten years. He expressed joy at the enthusiasm among the youth who wanted to take responsibility at the field level. The party will establish committees for youth, women, farmers, social networks and others.

The High Command monitored the application process to ensure transparency. The selection is expected to be completed in a few months as the new leaders have to take up the elections for Municipalities, Corporations, Zilla Parishads and Mandal Parishads.
