A day after Lord Rama’s celestial wedding with His consort Sita, the Pattabhishekam (coronation ceremony) of Lord Rama was grandly organized at the Mithila Stadium in the famous temple town of Bhadrachalam in Telangana on Saturday (March 28).
Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla along with his wife Janaki Shukla and scores of devotees from various parts of the state witnessed the coronation ceremony which was held amidst pious fervor and grandeur.
Earlier, the idols of the presiding deity of the historic temple, Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy, were brought to the Mithila stadium in an utsav procession. The processional idol of Lord Rama was adorned with Padukalu, Rajadhandam, Rajamudrika, Swarna Kiritam, Khadgam and jewels.
Amid the recital of Vedic hymns, the coronation ceremony was held in a festive atmosphere.
Later, the Governor inaugurated the ‘Giri Mart’ set up by the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), Bhadrachalam, in the temple town. Bhadrachalam ITDA Project Officer, B. Rahul and others were present.
The market will provide a platform for indigenous farmers and members of indigenous women’s self-help groups to sell a range of products, including forest items including honey, organic products and handicrafts such as bamboo-based products with both utilitarian and decorative value, ITDA sources said.
The initiative is aimed at increasing the income of indigenous people, including farmers, women and artisans, and strengthening their economic status.
