Technology is a powerful tool and its real value lies in its use for public safety, security and reinforcement systems, Superintendent of Police P Jagadeesh said.
Mr. Jagadeesh participated in the grand finale of the Anantapur Police AI Hackathon 2026 held in the city on Saturday (March 28). Speaking on the occasion, he explained that the initiative, organized for the first time in the state by the Anantapur Police Department, aims to encourage the creativity of students in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and bring out innovative ideas.
Around 1,000 participants registered for the hackathon, and online competitions were held where participants developed PPTs and apps on topics such as duty schedule generator, multilingual AI-based complaint portal, AI handwritten document recognition OCR system and other related topics. From these, about 40 best teams were selected for the grand final.
The SP noted that B.Tech students from across the state participated in the hackathon and emphasized that real success lies not only in coding or building apps but also in solving real social problems. He emphasized that artificial intelligence will play a key role in policing in the coming years and urged students to focus on innovation rather than just job hunting. He expressed hope that their ideas would contribute to the future security of the nation. IPS officer trainee Ashwin Manideep and others were also present at the event.
