Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi played down India’s selection options, insisting that he is focused on honing his skills and growing as a cricketer.
“I don’t really think about it too much. I just think about improving my own game as much as I can,” he said in an interview with the Press Trust of India. “It’s a very dynamic game so I’m constantly working on my batting, fielding and wicket-keeping skills. I’m just trying to improve day by day, learn and be as good as I can be,” Raghuvanshi added.

The Mumbai batsman further explained that he judges his performances based on the team’s results as he is still focused on improving his skills as a top-order batsman and wicketkeeper.
“I felt I prepared as hard as I could, but I only judge my performances by whether the team won or not,” he added.
Competition for places in the Indian team across formats has intensified, with specialist batsmen like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma also working on their bowling skills. Raghuvanshi also faces a tough fight but is not focused on the competition just yet.
While the 21-year-old did not get many opportunities in domestic red-ball cricket for the Mumbai cricket team, he featured in both the white-ball tournaments, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
“We didn’t win any of the white ball tournaments, but that’s okay. There’s a lot to learn from and I’m going to work harder and come back a better player,” he continued. “All the seasons I play are equally important because I play every match as if it is my last. I take every match as important as the next. I have played a lot of cricket this year so I feel well prepared and hopefully I can do my job for the team and help us win.”
WILL RAGHUVANSHI BE KKR’S KEEPER?
Raghuvanshi’s skills behind the wickets could come in handy for KKR as wellwho, like other teams, will be tasked with finding the right combination in the early stages of the Indian Premier League. They also have Tim Seifert, Finn Allen and Tejasvi Dahiya as special goalies on the team.
“My Mumbai T20 team needed me to stick around, so I thought why not? It’s a new challenge and I’ve enjoyed it a lot. I’ve been practicing it quite a bit and we’ll see what happens,” he said.
With his mentor and coach Abhishek Nayar now taking over as the head coach of KKR, Raghuvanshi believes we still have a lot to learn.
“It will be a great experience for me and the whole team. He has a great cricketing mind and is a great person,” he said.
“I have already learned a lot from him and this season will be no different. I will continue to learn and hope we win a lot of matches and tournaments together,” added Raghuvanshi.
