RCB vs SRH TO BE A THRILLER?
The defending champions begin their 2024 campaign against second-placed SRH in what promises to be a blockbuster opener. Recent meetings between these two teams have consistently produced run-fests and all indications are that this contest could follow the same pattern – if not up a notch given the current conditions and squad composition.
The batting is likely to dominate this clash, with both sides going into the game with relatively weak bowling assets.
RCB will be without the services of Josh Hazlewood and Yash Dayal, key figures in their winning streak last season. Meanwhile, SRH will be without their captain Pat Cummins, who is not expected to join the team until later in the tournament.
All eyes will also be on Virat Kohli who is returning to the IPL. With the veteran now featuring in just one format, the IPL has effectively become the main stage for fans to see him in action.
Since the end of the 2025 season, Kohli has shown a marked increase in intensity at the international level, something RCB will want to see translated into the IPL. Even if he carries over a fraction of that form, it could give the team a solid platform at the top of the order.
