Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) founder Thol. Thirumavalavan said on Friday that negotiations with the DMK have been successfully completed to identify eight constituencies, including two general seats, for his party.
The process was “smooth” and he was “happy” after signing the agreement here at the DMK headquarters, Anna Arivalayam, in Chennai, he said.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Thirumavalavan said, “We are satisfied and the negotiations were smooth. We got what we wanted. The constituencies that were allotted to VCK will be announced tomorrow (Saturday). There are many alliance partners who asked for what we wanted and we asked for what they wanted, but there was no deadlock in the alliance.”
Mr. Thirumavalavan added, “There are no issues. There are more than 10 parties in the alliance. When each party is looking for a constituency that the other party also wants, this exercise takes time to complete. There has been no deadlock.”
He also said that parties “who want us to lose” need not worry about the DMK giving more seats to the unrecognized party (DMDK) than the recognized party (VCK).
