Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu lauded the Union Government’s decision to reduce excise duty on petrol and diesel, terming it a timely, people-centric intervention that underlines strong leadership in a challenging global environment.
In a statement at X on Friday, the Chief Minister said, “True strength of leadership is tested in difficult times.” He noted that India was fortunate to have Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the helm, ensuring stability and decisive governance. He noted that the reduction in consumption tax would help protect citizens from the effects of global fuel price volatility.
Mr. Naidu said the move reflected the Centre’s commitment to prioritize public welfare, especially at a time when many countries were passing on the burden of rising fuel prices to consumers. “India excels at putting its people first,” he remarked, welcoming the decision on behalf of the people of Andhra Pradesh.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan welcomed the decision, terming it as a big relief to citizens amid global uncertainty.
In a post on X, Mr. Pawan Kalyan said that Mr. Modi has once again demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of the people by taking proactive steps to ease the burden of fuel costs.
Referring to the impact of geopolitical tensions, including the West Asian conflict, he said the Centre’s decision to reduce excise duty on petrol by ₹10 and completely waive the tax on diesel will protect citizens from price escalation.
Mr. Pawan Kalyan added that the government has been consistently exploring alternative strategies to ensure availability of fuel while minimizing the financial burden on the public. He termed the move laudable and expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister saying it would provide relief not only to consumers but also to oil companies.
Leaders stressed that the decision reflects the NDA government’s continued focus on balancing economic concerns with public welfare.
