Alyssa Healy has confirmed that Mitchell Starc is injured, ending the debate over the Australian pacer’s commitment to play in the IPL and for the Delhi Capitals.
Starc, who has retired from T20Is and missed the T20 World Cup 2026, will link up with the Delhi team before the start of the season. The left-arm pacer has played all five Ashes Tests against England and the latter part of the Big Bash League. Along with Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins the left-arm paceman is expected to get a delayed start to his IPL 2026 campaign.

However, Hazlewood and Cummins have already linked up with the RCB and SRH squads before the start of the season, with Delhi still awaiting Starc’s arrival. A DC fan decided to air his grievances on one of Starc’s recent Instagram posts. The fan said it was unfair on the franchise that Starc would not be available for them in the first few games while Cummins and Hazlewood joined their squads.
“It’s so unfair to us @delhicapitals fans that Hazelwood and Cummins despite being injured will be available for their teams but you won’t,” said the fan.
Healy did not take the words too kindly and stated that the reason why Starc has not yet joined the DC squad is because he is injured and not fit.
“@anmol_is_here probably because mateif is injured he can’t bowl how is he supposed to bowl?!” Healy said. Credit: Mitchell Starc Instagram)
WHAT DID DC SAY ABOUT STARC’S ABSENCE?
DC coach Hemang Badani said they are still waiting for the acquisition No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Cricket Australia in Starc’s case.
“We are waiting to get the NOC from Cricket Australia. Once we get that, we will know when he will join us. We are in constant touch with CA. He was bowling, he was bowling a few days ago. Unless Cricket Australia signs him fit to play, there is little the franchise can do,” Badani said.
DC will begin their campaign on April 1 against LSG in Lucknow.
