Kamran Akmal baking PSL (Screen grab) The former Pakistan cricketer took a brutal dig at the PSL after the regular white ball turned pink due to the transfer of colors from the Hyderabad Kingsmen jerseys during the first match of the season between Lahore Qalandars and Hyderabad Kingsmen at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The PSL started its 2026 season on March 26, but there was controversy in the opening match itself. The clash between Lahore Qalandars and Hyderabad Kingsmen at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore unexpectedly turned into what fans described as a “pink ball contest”. The match issue became a topic of discussion on social media and Kamran Akmal did not hold back from trolling the PSL and their ‘dupatta lane’ jersey. “I really thought the Hyderabad Kingsmen got their kits dyed in some Dupatta street at home, the kind where they re-dye white clothes at bargain prices. – Kamran Akmal said on Pakistan’s YouTube channel The Game Plan.

Axar Patel questions Impact Player rule: ‘All-rounders lose value’ “I think Hyderabad Kingsmen have dyed their kits with some desi scarf which gives a white color to the outfit at a low cost,” said Kamran Akmal. Cricketers often polish the ball using jerseys or a towel to maintain the shine, which helps bowlers produce swing. However, the incident caused serious concern and many called it an embarrassment to the PSL. Questions are being asked as to how such shoddy kits were approved which allow the color of the jersey to be transferred to the match ball. Hyderabad Kingsmen captain Marnus Labuschagne also spoke about the incident in the post-match conference, saying that he had experienced it for the first time. “After the second game, I said to the referees, ‘What’s going on? The ball is red.’ It must be from clothing or something. I’ve never seen anything like this before, I’ve seen cases where something on the bat gets on the ball or it hits the pad and removes some of the paint. But I’ve never seen that with clothes. I’m sure they’ll sort it out in the next few games,” a puzzled Labuschagne told reporters.
