Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Nabin said Nitish Kumar had brought Bihar out of the “lantern era” and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government would continue to follow the plan he had set.
Mr. Nabin said this at Patna’s Bapu Sabhagar on the concluding day of the fifth phase of the Samriddhi Yatra after Mr. Kumar reached the state capital from Nalanda, his hometown.
Sharing the dais with the Chief Minister, he lauded him, saying that Mr. Kumar had successfully brought Bihar out of an era of despair, instilled a renewed sense of confidence in it and put it firmly on the path of development.
He claimed that Mr. Kumar had undertaken the vital task of restoring the dignity and self-respect of the people of Bihar.
“Through his ‘Samriddhi Yatra’, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has created an atmosphere of celebration and festivities throughout Bihar. The state will now continue its journey of development and move forward in this very spirit of celebration,” said Mr. Nabin said.
He added that as an MLA, he too had the privilege of learning under Mr. Kumar.
Mr. Nabin, who is also going to the Rajya Sabha along with Mr. Kumar, announced that this could be his last official government engagement as an MLA.
He assured the people of Patna that he remains committed to further accelerate the development of both Patna and Bihar – based on the new dimensions set by the Chief Minister – with the continued support and assistance of the Central Government in the coming days.
Attacking the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Mr Nabin said that during their era, providing electricity to every household in Bihar was a dream.
“Today we have moved forward past the ‘lantern’ (kerosene lamp) era and the government has successfully ensured that modern LED lighting reaches every household. The credit for electricity reaching every household goes to CM Nitish Kumar,” Mr Nabin said.
He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi also deserves credit for the way a “twin-engine” government was formed after 2014, which ensured that Bihar got the full support of the central government.
The BJP National President emphasized that Bihar will always remain indebted to Nitish Kumar for the immense contribution he made to build a ‘New Bihar’.
Accompanied by both Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, he said, “While the ‘Samriddhi Yatra’ may be concluding today, the NDA government will strictly follow the development plan set by the Chief Minister and fulfill the dream of ‘Developed Bihar’ by 2030.”
“If women and sisters in the state are successfully managing their households and working outside the home at the same time, it is to Mr. Kumar’s credit.
Earlier, when ‘Jungle Raj’ was discussed in Bihar, the people of the state had to hang their heads in shame; however, times have changed today. Now the people of Bihar are getting respect,” said Mr. Nabin.
Mr. Kumar, on the other hand, said that Bihar will continue forward and everything will be fine.
In Nalanda, people shouted slogans in support of Mr. Kumar urging him not to leave Bihar by going to the Rajya Sabha. The first phase of the Yatra started on March 10 from Supaul and Madhepura.
On the last day, Mr. Kumar inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of projects worth ₹ 2183 crore in two districts.
