The Department of Vocational Higher Secondary Education (VHSE) of the Department of General Education has received “Awarding Body – Dual” (AB-Dual) status from the National Board for Vocational Education and Training.
This will enable VHSEs in the state to design and approve National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) courses.
National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) Director Lt. Col. Vikram Singh Bhati issued a Letter of Intent in this regard. According to the letter issued on March 25, the VHSE wing has the right to use this recognition only for Kerala. NCVET is established under the Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship.
The curriculum developed by the VHSE within 90 days of the order should be submitted for review at the national level. Once these provisions are met, an agreement with NCVET can be signed and permanent recognition can be obtained. This will enable VHSE to independently develop vocational courses and issue certificates. Moreover, the certificates issued to VHSE students in the state will gain more recognition at the national and international levels.
