At least two people, including an Indian, were killed and three others injured on Thursday (March 26, 2026) when debris from missiles intercepted by the United Arab Emirates’ air defense system hit a street in Abu Dhabi, local media reported.

The second person killed in the incident is a Pakistani national, while an Indian is also among the three injured, the Abu Dhabi Media Office reported. The UAE’s air defenses respond to missile and drone threats from Iran at regular intervals, according to the UAE Ministry of Defense.
“Abu Dhabi authorities responded to the falling debris incident on Sweihan Street after the ballistic missile was successfully intercepted by air defense systems,” the Abu Dhabi Media Office posted on social media.
“The incident resulted in the death of two persons of Pakistani and Indian nationalities and serious to moderate injuries to three individuals of Emirati, Jordanian and Indian nationalities,” it added.
The Indian Embassy in the UAE expresses its condolences and said it is closely coordinating with the UAE authorities for all possible support and assistance.

The death toll rose to 11 after the latest incident in Abu Dhabi, Gulf News reported.
On March 26, 2026, the United Arab Emirates’ air defense systems hit 15 ballistic missiles and 11 UAVs launched from Iran, the Ministry of Defense said in a social media post on Thursday (March 26, 2026).
Since the start of the blatant Iranian attacks, the UAE’s air defenses have deployed 372 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 1,826 UAVs.
“The attacks resulted in the martyrdom of 2 members of the armed forces in the line of national duty, in addition to the martyrdom of a Moroccan civilian who was detained by the armed forces, as well as 8 deaths of Pakistani, Nepalese, Bangladeshi, Palestinian and Indian nationalities,” it said.
A total of 169 people were also injured, with injuries ranging from light to moderate and severe. The injured included citizens of the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, Türkiye, Iraq, Nepal, Nigeria, Tunisia, Oman, Jordan and Palestine.
The Ministry of Defense said it remains fully prepared and ready to face any threats and will vigorously counter anything that aims to undermine the country’s security in a manner that ensures the protection of its sovereignty, security and stability and safeguards its interests and national capabilities.
