
The AIADMK has allotted 11 constituencies, reserved for scheduled castes, to its allies.
Five of them—Avanashi, Rasipuram, Gandarvakottai, Vasudevanallur and Manamadurai—were earmarked for the BJP; three – Periyakulam, Ottairpidaram and Ponnamallee – for Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) and two – Kattumannarkoil and Kilvelur – for Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK). The 11th abode – Kilvaithinankuppam (KV Kuppam) – was set aside for Puratchi Bharatham. There are a total of 44 SC constituencies in the state.
Besides the two SC seats, Perambur, Ambatttur, Thiruporur, Uthiramerur, Sholinghur, Polur, Gingee, Vriddhachalam, Rishivandhiyam, Vikravandi, Dharmapuri, Pennagaram, Salem (West), Salem (North), Mayiladudamthurai and Jayanduthurai have been allotted to PMK. As for AMMK, the other eight places are Saidapet, Tirupattur (in northern TN), Madathukulam Tiruchi (west), Mannargudi, Thiruvaiyaru, Karaikudi and Nanguneri.
Ranipet, Kumbakonam, Oddanchatram, Erode (West) and Killiyoor were handed over to Maanila (Moopanar) Tamil Congress; Pallavaram and Kunnam to Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi and Rajapalayam to Tamizhaga Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam.
AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, after releasing the list of constituencies identified for various components of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), said that all NDA parties are equally strong and treated equally. Mr. Palaniswami noted that no party would come under any pressure to compete for the symbol of one party or the other.
