Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) has announced extension of metro services on March 28 in view of the TATA IPL T20 match to be held in the city.
The timing of the last train
The last train services from all terminus stations, which usually end around 11pm, will be extended until 2am (early on March 29), according to the report. The last trains will leave Whitefield (Kadugodi) at 12:30 and Challaghatta at 12:45, while services from Silk Institute and Madavara will run until 12:45. Bommasandra services will continue till 1:00 a.m. and from RV Road till 2:00 a.m. The last train from Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, Majestic station in all four directions will leave at 1:30 a.m.
To facilitate hassle-free travel, BMRCL said tickets for IPL matches will carry a QR code to enable two-way metro travel. This facility will be available on both printed and digital tickets and will allow viewers to commute conveniently without buying separate metro tickets.
What gates to use
Spectators have been advised to use designated metro stations based on their stadium entry points. Those accessing the gates from Cubbon Road are advised to use Cubbon Park Metro Station, while those entering from Link Road should use Mahatma Gandhi Road Metro Station, both located within walking distance of the stadium.
In addition, BMRCL has provided additional parking facilities at several metro stations. On the day of the match, parking will be available at a flat rate of ₹30 for two wheeler vehicles and ₹60 for passenger cars until the metro service is closed. Commuters are encouraged to park at these stations and travel by subway to ease traffic congestion in the Central Business District and surrounding areas, the release said.
BMRCL has urged passengers to follow the instructions of the police, stadium authorities and metro staff to ensure safety and avoid overcrowding. He added that entry to the station may be regulated or temporarily restricted if necessary for the safety of passengers.
