The Pakistan Super League 2026 (PSL 11) is set to begin on March 26 and Lahore Qalandars will enter as the defending champions after lifting the title last season. Shaheen Shah Afridi’s team will once again be one of the main teams. The tournament is scheduled to take place from March 26 to May 3, and will feature eight teams after the expansion and will have a total of 44 matches.

In the opening match, the Qalandars will take on new franchise Hyderabad Kingsmen at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. It’s a fascinating curtain-raiser: a proven title-winning unit against one of the league’s biggest unknowns. Lahore brings continuity, experience and a championship core, while Hyderabad adds new intrigue as one of the newly introduced sides in the expanded competition.
However, PSL 2026 will not look like a regular season. Originally planned at six locations, the tournament has now been reduced to just two cities — Lahore and Karachi. The PCB has confirmed that all matches will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, a major logistical shift aimed at reducing travel and simplifying operations.
The revised schedule has the first 14 matches in Lahore, followed by a block in Karachi, where the play-offs will be split between the two cities. The qualifiers have been moved from Rawalpindi to Karachi, while Lahore will still host the Eliminators and the final on May 3.

Another major change is that the tournament will start behind closed doors. The PCB has announced that the opening leg of PSL 11 will be played without spectators, citing the ongoing regional crisis and fuel-related austerity measures.
There is no opening ceremony this year either. The traditional curtain raiser in Lahore has been scrapped as part of scaled back plans. That means PSL 2026 gets off to a much quieter start than usual – but with the defending champions in action and a new franchise making their debut, the cricket should still provide plenty of sparks.
