US President Donald Trump on Wednesday accused Democrats of “undermining” the US’s “major military success in Iran”. Trump called them a “country hater” and alleged that the Democrats were “trying to create internal chaos.”
“Radical left, country hating Democrats are trying to create internal chaos to take away the great military success we are having in Iran. They hate to see us win so completely and decisively, but the American public sees what is happening. AMERICA FIRST! President DJT,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Earlier in the day, Iran rejected a U.S. cease-fire offer and presented its own list of conditions to end the conflict, Iranian state media reported on Wednesday.
The development comes as strikes continue across Iran and Israel, as Pakistan has proposed acting as a mediator between the two countries. The ongoing conflict, which began on Saturday, February 28, is currently in its fourth week.
The US proposes a cease-fire
The United States on Wednesday reportedly sent Iran a 15-point proposal to end the conflict following the failure of nuclear talks between the two countries.
Two Pakistani officials told The Associated Press that Iran had received a 15-point proposal from the US to reach a ceasefire.
Pakistani officials reportedly described the proposal broadly as touching on sanctions relief, civilian nuclear cooperation, dismantling Iran’s nuclear program, International Atomic Energy Agency monitoring, missile restrictions and access to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
What did Iran say?
However, Iran rejected the ceasefire talks – calling them “illogical”.
Here’s what Iran said in its full list of conditions, according to Press TV:
– Complete cessation of “aggression and assassinations” by the enemy.
– Establishing concrete mechanisms to ensure that war is not reimposed on the Islamic Republic.
– Guaranteed and clearly defined payment of war damages and reparations.
— Ending the war on all fronts and for all resistance groups involved throughout the region.
– The exercise of Iran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz is and will remain Iran’s natural and legal right and constitutes a guarantee of the fulfillment of the other party’s obligations and must be recognized.
