Hyderabad woke up on Tuesday to the sight of a city creeping forward in fumes, not because it ran out of fuel, but because fear reigned supreme.
Late on Monday evening, the first signs of unrest began to emerge at a quiet petrol pump along the Ramanthapur main road. On most evenings, the station serves a handful of customers at a time. That night, however, the trickle turned into a stream. Within minutes, motorbikes began to pile up at the gas stations, cars lined up and cars spilling onto the main road.
